Diocesan Memorandum – March 2008
In response to recent questions from CPC Teams and facilitators, several new resources have been prepared in the following areas: statements from John Maimone, CFO for the Diocese, on fiscal solvency and the care and maintenance of closed facilities; a statement on the canonical implications of consolidation from the Canonical Affairs Subcommittee; and a Draft Parish Consultation Form for use in Step 7 in the CPC Team Handbook. Copies are being sent to CPC Team Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons and facilitators and are available on this website under Latest News.
As Cluster Planning and Coordination Teams move forward in addressing the deeper issues and challenges related to this work, it will be very important to do so in a spirit of prayer, discernment, compassion and mutual respect, believing in the presence of God in all that we do. Realizing the need to carefully address the feelings of fear and grieving some people will have, parish leaders will need to strive to help people to see and be open to the possibilities for new life and hope. May we all pray for God’s blessings and guidance upon the deliberations that will be underway throughout our diocese.
